MANDARIN 2

Mandarin 2 emphasizes the development of communication skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The topics include transportation, time, comparison and preference, color, clothes, weather, vacation, hobbies and school activities, etc.

MANDARIN 3

Mandarin 3 emphasizes the development of communication skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The topics include hobbies, school courses and schedule, classrooms and campus, location and giving directions, making phone calls, human body, and visiting doctors, etc.

MANDARIN 4

Mandarin 4 emphasizes the development of communication skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The topics include money, food, ordering food in restaurant, diet and health, and shopping, etc.

MANDARIN 5 HONORS

Mandarin 5 Honors emphasizes the development of communication skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The topics include housing, living environment, Chinese geography, the change and development of Chinese language, Chinese food culture and travel in China and around the world, etc.

MANDARIN 6 HONORS

Chinese 6 Honors course reinforces skills that students learned during previous years of Chinese study and refines and further develops students’ skills in 3 modes of communication, namely, interpretive communication, interpersonal communication, and presentational communication. The course is designed to cover the same framework of skills and objectives as outlined for the AP Chinese Language and Culture course. The course also engages students in an exploration of both contemporary and historical Chinese culture. Six AP Chinese thematic units are included in the course: 1) Families in different societies; 2) The influence of Language and Culture on Identity; 3) Influences of beauty and art; 4) How science and technology affect our lives; 5) Factors that impact the quality of life; 6) Environmental, political, and societal challenges.
